Winter... Ugh, it never ends

The ice is finally off the lake now, but it's still cold and snowy. What's happened to spring here? This is the third year in a row the snow hasn't melted in the yard until the first of May.

The past two years we've had snow flurries clear into the second week of June. We lost the apples on our trees in 2009 after a late frost in mid-June. Summer of 201o we had frost 5 nights in July and every night was down to 40 and below. It slowed the growth and production of everything in the garden. We couldn't even plant a lot of it until June, then had to fight to keep the soil warm enough. Sigh... All that work for so little return.
