Guests for solar dinner

Karen brought us these flowers from her garden. They're breath-takingly beautiful!

Rich and Karen came over for dinner Friday afternoon. We cooked venison stew in the solar cooker. Everything in it except the salt and pepper was produced on our property: Home-canned venison chunks, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, and parlsey. It came out good, thoroughly cooked and rich in flavor! I made biscuits to go with it and mint iced-tea (with mint from my garden).

I used my homemade solar cooker to make rice pudding but it dried out and the rice was undercooked. Sunday I added water to the whole mess and put it in the "real" (purchased") solar cooker and let it cook all afternoon. It helped but was still rather dry and not very tasty. We each ate a bowl and fed the rest to the chickens.

We enjoyed a card game of "Hearts" with Rich and Karen after the meal. It was a very enjoyable time! (I probably think so because I won!)
