We found a patch of raspberries along a creek and stopped to pick a few. Some went in the paper cup, some went in our mouths!

If you look closely you can see the red raspberries. We have enough left that I'm going to make muffins with them today.

Looking down the road from where we parked to pick huckleberries.

Looking up the road from where we parked.

Properly dressed for picking berries...jacket tied around waist so it's handy in case the mosquitos get bad. Camelback pack with water and snacks, and .357 on belt in case of bear attack. I had pepper spray, too, hanging from the shoulder strap of the pack, where I could get to it. We've seen bears up there a few times in the past.

Berries in the woods.

The dark blue ones are ripe.

They're similar to blueberries.

This is part of the slope where we were picking.

Steven's fingers with the telltale sign of berry-picking!

On the way home this bear stepped out in the road. This is a bit under a mile from our cabin. The bear stopped for a minute, looked at us, then went on across the road. This picture was taken through the bug-splattered, dust-covered windshield of our car!
