A Western Tanager and some yard sales

Burma and Ron identified the bird for me: "A Western Tanager! Such good pictures of one of our favorite birds! These little guys LOVE berries and have been around here also. Deep Creek has a great crop of Service berries this year, so maybe they will stay away from our scant crop of Raspberries" Thanks, you two! It sure is a beautiful bird, and I hope they keep coming back! There were two here at once, after I took those pictures last week!

"Does this pillow make me look fat?"

Yard sale treasure! We haven't been to yard sales in ages, but since we had to go out anyway Saturday morning, we stopped at a few. These things will help our cabin feel more...um..."cabiny". We're trying to do away with "modern-looking" things!
The pans are porcelin-coated cast iron. I was happy that there was a lid (which fits both pans) and that the handle on the frying pan is long and it's wooden!

More yard sale treasures. Paid 50 cents or less for most things we came home with.

Except this. It was $5 but was new in the box, the racks still in the factory-sealed plastic bags! I already have it filled with huckleberries!

The racks spread out on the counter are from my Nesco dehydrator. The huckleberries on them are pretty much dry and ready to put in jars. I spread them out to cool to room temperature before I jarred them. The "new" dehydrator is on the right, plugged in. It takes half the watts of the nesco dehydrator but will probably take longer to dry food, too. It was sunny yesterday, so solar power was abundant!

Steven's yard sale treasure! He talked the people down from $50 to $40 for the whole thing: two bows, the arrows, and the case! Nice deal!

There's the bow case, closed.

"Dogs! They'll drink anything, even green, slimy rainwater! Hope no one's looking...I'm thirsty too."
